one cookie

I not really a big fan of Valentine’s Day.  Like New Year’s Eve, I feel like it comes with a lot of expectations and pressure.   But in recent years, I’ve worked to change my thinking on this day.  I no longer think of it as a day about romantic love, but rather as a day to share a moment with those who are important to us.  Rather than waiting for an elaborate bouquet of flowers, I’d rather give others heart-shaped cookies and share a kind word with people.  Many cookiesMy strongest and most positive memories of Valentine’s Day are rooted in the elementary school tradition of decorating paper lunch bags to hang on one’s school desk and then passing out valentine’s to everyone in the class.  The tradition isn’t about romantic love, just being kind to others and celebrating together.  While it is wonderful to celebrate with a significant other; I encourage you to make this day about more than that, and spread your love a little wider.
