International Happiness Day

March 20, 2013

Today is the first International Happiness Day.  So yes, in addition to being the Spring Equinox and Nowruz; the United Nations has also declared this International Happiness Day.  I really don’t know much about it or it’s original.  But I love the idea.  Here is a link to an article about it: http://www.cbc.ca/strombo/alt-news/smile-its-the-first-ever-international-day-of-happiness.html

In honour of this new and worthy day, I encourage everyone to take a few minutes a list some the things that make you happy.  Here is the beginning of my list (not really in any particular order):

  1. sunshine
  2. Russell
  3. sitting on my deck
  4. the tips of spring bulbs poking through the ground
  5. blue jays and cardinals at my bird feeder
  6. laughing till you cry
  7. a great music mix on radio 2 on the long drive home from Peterborough
  8. driving my convertible
  9. watching my dog wander around the yard
  10. the idea of goats lose on the 401 (apparently this happened early this morning)
  11. finishing a book
  12. baking
  13. fresh flowers in the house

Hot coffee.. when you really need one in the morning.

    • I’ve been thinking “the first sip of morning coffee” should be on my list as well.
