Did you know…

October 15, 2013

Last week, totally by accident, I learned that CS Lewis died on the same day as JFK.  When I googled to confirm what I thought I had heard, I learned that Aldous Huxley also died on the same day.  November 22, 1963.  I understand that on any given day, many people die.  But it struck me as a strange thing that John F. Kennedy (former US President who was assassinated), CS Lewis (author of the Narnia chronicles, Mere Christianity and A Grief Observed – to name a few) and Aldous Huxley (perhaps best known for his book Brave New World), all died on the same November day in 1963.   I’m a bit curious as to how the media covered the deaths of the second two (Lewis & Huxley), as I’m sure in some parts of the world Kennedy’s death was all that could be talked about.  As I ponder all this, I am blown away to realize that CS Lewis has been dead for over 50 years, yet his writing still resonates in today’s world and time.  Wise words are timeless.

Sky Report at 10:00 – I”m not totally sure, but at some point this morning there was a mix of sun and cloud, even if most of the day was cloudy.
