a sense of accomplishment

July 21, 2014

For many of us, the sense of accomplishment is a positive and powerful re-enforcer.   Sometimes that sense of accomplishment comes from checking tasks off a list.  However, seeing a the immediate impact of your efforts can be even more exciting.  Tonight as I finished power-washing my deck I had that experience.  I could instantly see the difference in how the deck looked and quickly knew that my time and work was worth the effort.  Whether it’s making concrete candle holders, weeding a flowerbed, mowing the lawn, the summer is full of opportunities to engage in tasks and projects where you can instantly feel a sense of accomplishment.  In between times of walking on the beach or reading a good book in the shade, do a few things were the fruit of your effort is immediately evident and enjoy the rush that comes with that.
