Habits and fears

May 11, 2015

Again, I can’t claim credit for the content below.  But if you have been following my posts for the past couple of years, you know that I’m a bit believer in the benefits of changing you behaviour (aka habits) to reach your goals.  So when I read this idea about overcoming fears or what we perceive to be things we can’t do, this post by Seth Godin resonated with me.

To overcome an irrational fear…

replace it with a habit.

If you’re afraid to write, write a little, every day. Start with an anonymous blog, start with a sentence. Every day, drip, drip, drip, a habit.

If you’re afraid to speak up, speak up a little, every day. Not to the board of directors, but to someone. A little bit, every day.

Habits are more powerful than fears.
